Description

The Ville to Ville Sprint Relay is a 3-person running relay. Teams will complete 21 miles with a start and finish at Think Tank Brew Lab in Greenville, SC. Runners will travel the Green Line section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail and enjoy a festive post-race celebration with food trucks, music, college football, and craft brews. Enjoy all the fun of Ville to Ville camaraderie in a shorter timeframe without needing a team vehicle.

All participants will receive a super soft hoodie sweatshirt, race medal, race SWAG, and a complimentary craft beer or non-acholic drink from Think Tank Brew Lab. 

Race Format

The inaugural event features six legs, with each consecutive leg getting shorter by one mile. Three team members will split the six legs, with runner #1 completing Legs 1 & 4, runner #2 completing Legs 2 & 5, and runner #3 completing Legs 3 & 6. All teams will start the event at 10 am.

Fees

Initial Deposit: $120 deposit.  A Final Payment of $120 is due by June 28, 2024. Total Team Fee: $240
Team Captains will pay all team fees with the option to pay a deposit or the full amount upon registering. Captains who only pay the initial deposit must pay the remainder of their team fee ($120) by midnight on June 28, 2024.  Teams with unpaid fees on June 29, 2024, will lose their spot in the race and their non-refundable deposit. 

Team Captain

Each team will have a team captain (we will initially use the name and contact info of the person registering) who will be responsible for recruiting teammates and meeting appropriate deadlines. We will provide regular race information and updates for the team captain on our website and through monthly email newsletters. The Team Captain role can be transferred to another person at any point. Existing captains should email info@villetovillerelay.com and Cc the new captain if they are changing captains.

Team Rosters

Once the team captain registers, they can invite their teammates to join the team online. Team members will not pay any fees upon registration. Preliminary team rosters are due on August 28, 2024. Sweatshirt sizes will be guaranteed for anyone registering by the preliminary deadline. The ability to add or change team members will remain open until race day; however, changes after September 21, 2024, will carry a $25 fee.

Course Safety

We love your kids and dogs, but strollers and pets will not be allowed on the race course due to course limitations and participant safety. There is plenty of room at the start/finish area for supervised children and pets to wait for you as you run. 

Race Theme

Favorite Sports Team or Athlete - Here we go runners, here we go (clap, clap)! The inaugural Ville to Ville Sprint Relay will be held on a beautiful Fall Saturday in the South.  Dress to support your favorite sports team or athlete as you run and cheer on your relay team on race day.  

Packet Pickup

Friday, September 27th, 2024, from 4-7 pm or Saturday, September 28th, 2024 - 8:30-9:30 am

All teams will pick up their timing chip for the event on the morning of the race. 

Age Requirements

All runners must be at least 11 years old on race day. 

Team Name

Be creative, but keep it classy. Your team name will appear in lots of public places, so make sure it would make your parents proud. You will submit your team name during registration, but it can be changed until August 28, 2024.

Open 
Open Co-ed (minimum of 1 female)
Open Female (all females)
Masters Open (all 40+)
Masters Co-ed (minimum of 1 female, all 40+)
Masters Female (all 40+ females)
*Team categories will be chosen during registration but can be changed until race weekend. All teams should have three team members, but teams can run with two members.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams in each category. There will also be awards for the team with the most spirit, best costumes, and best social media presence.

Team Pace

This is a running event. Each team must have an average team pace of 12:00 minutes per mile or less for us to plan law enforcement and volunteer support on the course. Each team member will provide an estimated 5K race pace when registering. 

Cancellation/Weather

This is a rain-or-shine event. The race director can change the course or event in case of inclement weather or state/permit restrictions.
