Race Day Guide

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup will take place on race day at Trailblazer Park from 8:30 to 9:45 AM. Only the team captain needs to check in. Captains will pick up the entire team packet, including the team's timing chip and wristband.

Please allow enough time to park, check in, get your team settled, and have your first runner ready before the 10:00 AM start.

Event Parking

There are multiple parking lots for teams and spectators. You can also view our custom Google Site Map for parking, the start/finish area, and the race course.

What to Bring

Small (10' x 10') pop-up tents are allowed. Tents must be properly secured and should be staked or weighted down, particularly if wind speeds exceed 10 mph.

Other items we recommend bringing include:

  • Camping chairs
  • Blanket or tarp
  • Reusable water bottles
  • Change of clothes and shoes
  • Foam roller or massage gun
  • Portable phone charger
  • Sunscreen and weather-appropriate clothing

A 500-gallon water tank will be available on-site for runners to refill water bottles.

What Not to Bring

Please do not bring alcohol, vapes, cigarettes, cigars, or drones. Beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be available at the event.

Timing Chip

At packet pickup, each team will receive one timing chip and a neoprene wristband holder. The timing chip serves as your team's relay baton and must be worn by the runner currently on the course.

At each transition, the finishing runner will pass the timing chip to the next runner. This chip records your team's race time and individual leg splits, so please make sure it is securely placed in the wristband before each runner leaves the transition area.

After completing the final 1-mile leg, your team's final runner must return the timing chip to event staff.

The Race

The race begins at 10:00 AM. Each team's first runner will start with the 6-mile loop. First runners will have a staggered start lasting approximately three minutes.

As a runner approaches the finish/transition area, their team's bib number will be announced. Once your team number is called, the next runner may enter the transition zone and prepare for the handoff.

The finishing runner will enter the transition zone, hand the timing chip to the next runner, and exit the transition area. The next runner may then begin their leg.

This process continues throughout the race, with each runner passing the timing chip to their teammate after completing each loop. After the final runner completes the 1-mile loop, they will finish through the finish line and return the team's timing chip to event staff.

Course Safety & Directions

Most of the course is on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Runners should stay to the right and pass on the left. The trail will remain open to the public during the event, so please be alert and courteous to other runners, walkers, and cyclists.

There are several road crossings along the course. Follow all instructions from police officers when crossing roads.

Each leg is an out-and-back route. Directional signage will be placed throughout the course to help keep runners on route. Look for green directional yard signs along the course and red signs and cones marking each turnaround location.

For everyone's safety, strollers and pets are not permitted on the race course. Supervised children and pets are welcome in the start/finish area at Trailblazer Park while you run.

RaceJoy

All participants are encouraged to use RaceJoy, our runner-tracking app, during the event.

RaceJoy offers:

  • Live Tracking: Spectators and teammates can follow a runner's progress, pace, and estimated finish time on a live map.
  • Course Navigation: Participants can access interactive course maps and directions within the app.
  • Audio Progress Alerts: Runners receive automatic progress updates as they pass designated points along the course.

We recommend downloading the app and setting it up before race morning.

Medals

Each team's finisher medals will be included in the team packet at packet pickup.

Rather than putting your medal on immediately, we encourage teammates to make it part of the relay experience: place the medal around your teammate's neck after they complete their final leg of the day.

On-Site Food, Drinks & Vendors

Boyos Burgers and Uncle Luke's food trucks will be on-site during the event.

Each runner will also receive a complimentary beer or non-alcoholic beverage. Additional beer will be available for purchase.

Local vendors and event sponsors will also be on-site throughout the day, so plan to stick around and enjoy the finish-line atmosphere.

Restrooms

Portable toilets will be available near the start/finish area. Please give priority to runners preparing for their next leg in portable toilet lines.

Additional permanent restrooms are available at Trailblazer Park in two locations:

  • Next to the pavilion
  • Next to the track

Awards

Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each category.

Team awards will be announced at approximately 1:30 PM. Awards will also be available for pickup until approximately 2:30 PM.

Shirt Size Exchange

Need a different event shirt size? Shirt exchanges will be available at the Ville to Ville Merchandise Tent beginning at 11:00 AM, subject to available inventory.

Post-Race

Don't rush home after your final leg! Teams are encouraged to hang out at Trailblazer Park, grab lunch, enjoy a drink, cheer on other teams, and socialize after finishing.

Most teams are expected to finish between approximately 12:00 and 2:00 PM, with the finish line scheduled to close around 2:00 PM.

Stick around, make some new friends, celebrate your team's accomplishment, and enjoy a fall Saturday in Travelers Rest!
